• Floor Process Guide

Choosing the right floor grinding and polishing tools is much easier when you follow the process step by step.

For most concrete floor jobs, the standard process is:

PCD → Metal Bond → Hybrid → Resin

This is the usual path for coating removal, grinding, transition and polishing.

    Overview of the Process

    • PCD = coating removal

    • Metal Bond = heavy grinding

    • Hybrid = transition

    • Resin = polishing

    • Bush Hammer = special texturing / anti-slip finish

    • Dust Control = cleaner and safer grinding

    Step 1 — Coating Removal

Use PCD tools when you need to remove:

    • Epoxy

    • Glue

    • Mastic

    • Paint

    • Other surface coatings

    Best choice:

    • PCD & Coating Removal Tools

    Tip:

PCD tools are mainly used for aggressive coating and adhesive removal.

They are usually machine-specific, so please confirm your grinder brand and model before ordering.

    Step 2 — Heavy Grinding

After coating removal, or when grinding bare concrete, the next step is metal bond grinding tools.

    Use metal bond tools for:

    • Surface preparation

    • Scratch opening

    • Removing weak surface layers

    • Leveling uneven concrete

    • Preparing for polishing steps

    Best choice:

    • Metal Bond Grinding Tools

    Tip:

Metal bond tools are usually machine-specific.

    You normally need to match:

    • Grinder brand

    • Tooling plate / adapter system

    • Grit

    • Bond type

    Step 3 — Transition Step

Hybrid pads are used between metal bond grinding and resin polishing.

    Use hybrid pads for:

    • Reducing metal scratches

    • Creating a smoother transition before resin polishing

    • Improving surface uniformity

    Best choice:

    • Hybrid Pads

    Tip:

Hybrid pads are more flexible in use than PCD or metal tools, but compatibility still depends on:

    • Pad size

    • Holder plate

    • Adapter / backer system

    Step 4 — Polishing

Resin polishing pads are used after grinding and transition to improve clarity, smoothness and gloss.

    Use resin pads for:

    • Scratch refinement

    • Surface smoothing

    • Gloss development

    • Final polishing steps

    Best choice:

    • Resin Polishing Pads

    Tip:

Resin pads are more universal in polishing logic, but you still need the correct holder plate or adapter.

    Step 5 — Surface Texturing / Anti-Slip Prep

If your goal is to create a textured or anti-slip finish instead of a polished surface, use bush hammer tools.

Bush hammer tools are used for:

    • Litchi finish preparation

    • Roughening smooth concrete

    • Anti-slip surface preparation

    • Decorative texturing

    • Creating better mechanical bonding before overlays

    Best choice:

    • Bush Hammer Tools & Rollers

    Important:

Bush hammer is not a standard step in the usual polishing chain.

It is a special process used for texturing, roughening or anti-slip applications.

In many jobs, bush hammer is used:

    • after basic prep

    or

    • before later grinding steps

It is not a normal replacement for hybrid or resin polishing.

    Step 6 — Dust Control

For cleaner and safer job sites, use dust shrouds and dust control accessories during grinding.

    Best choice:

    • Dust Control & Shrouds

    How to Choose Faster

If your job is removing coatings:

PCD → Metal Bond → Hybrid → Resin

If your job is grinding bare concrete:

Metal Bond → Hybrid → Resin

If your job is polishing only:

    Hybrid → Resin

    or

Resin only, depending on floor condition

If your job is creating anti-slip texture or litchi finish:

    Bush Hammer
